Measuring the Impact of Local Governance in Mozambique

A civil society mobilisation programme in Mozambique, designed to improve accountability and tackle corruption in municipal governance was achieving great success among beneficiaries but failing to communicate effectively with donors.

The programme faced termination at the end of its third year of funding unless it could communicate its impact more successfully.

Accadian met with many of the programme’s beneficiaries in Mozambique and worked with the implementation team to understand its objectives, activities and outcomes.

We subsequently designed a series of communication products, such as presentations and storyboards and improved the formal reporting process in order to more effectively demonstrate to all stakeholders the value of the programme.

As a result, the programme received additional funding to continue for a further two years, which enabled it to extend its reach into new locations across the country, catalysing improvements in local governance for hundreds of thousands of Mozambicans.
